Yogyakarta, November 1, 2025 — The Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, held the Table Manner Class 2025 at Hotel Kimaya Yogyakarta, carrying the theme “Building Global Etiquette for Future Diplomats.”
This event is part of the practicum course on Protocol and Diplomatic Correspondence, designed to provide students with firsthand experience in understanding and applying diplomatic etiquette in various formal settings, including international dining situations.
In her opening remarks, a representative of the Department of International Relations emphasized that practical learning activities such as the Table Manner Class are essential to developing students’ professionalism, self-confidence, and social competence as future diplomats. International dining etiquette, she noted, not only reflects good manners but also serves as a representation of one’s identity and image in diplomatic environments.
Throughout the session, students learned directly about the proper conduct during formal banquets, the arrangement of tableware, the sequence of meal service, and appropriate communication etiquette at the dining table. This hands-on experience helps students strengthen their soft skills and readiness to engage in global professional contexts.
The event was conducted in an interactive and enthusiastic atmosphere, concluding with a reflection session and a group photo with lecturers, students, and representatives from Hotel Kimaya Yogyakarta.
